Jemek Jemowit (Ziemowit Nowak) (PL)

A Berlin-based underground artist blending gothic glam, experimental pop, rap, and techno. Born in Gdynia in 1986 and raised in Berlin, his genre-defying work combines music, performance, and politics to confront issues of identity, racism, and cultural stereotypes—especially regarding Eastern European and LGBTQ+ communities.Since 2006, Jemowit has released a wide range of music, including Zemsta, TEKKNO POLO, and Das Satanische Album, often using irony, theatricality, and cultural pastiche. His 2021 rock opera Legenda Zygmunta Blask imagined a queer Polish Ziggy Stardust in the 1970s People’s Republic of Poland.
In 2024, his video installation The Poles of Berlin premiered at the Humboldt Forum, exploring anti-Polish discrimination. His 2025 EP The Ancestry, released by aufnahme + wiedergabe, expands on these themes, confronting racism in Europe—including within leftist circles—and featuring contributions from artists like Tav Falco and techno producer Katrin Wolke
