❀ Whether you’re 2 or 102 years old, come and nurture your inner child in our musical Strebergarten ❀
Running barefoot through the grass, drawing on the ground with a stick, eating fresh fruit straight from the bush — this is what childhood in the Działki / Schrebergarten of our grandparents looked like. Now, as Kujonki, we invite you to create new summer Strebergarten moments with us.
We will start the day with free workshops for kids to explore sound, rhythm, and digital DJing .—>sign-up information below<–
We’ve created a drawing playground where more is allowed than forbidden, and floors and walls are waiting to come alive with your art.
Musically, the Strebergarten will be filled with DJ sets by Bakläxa and Border Diva, as well as a live performance by Andreya Casablanca.
To nourish the body, we will host a Slavic food feast in the backyard, serving berry vegan pierogi made by our very own Babcia Kasia, homemade fruit compotes, and the signature Susz Spritz by Kujonki & Sekko Soziale, alongside culinary surprises by Dana Hirschova.
Inspired by the rich history of Działki / Schrebergarten—first created in Germany as playgrounds for working-class children in Leipzig in 1864, booming in Poland during the economic crisis of the 1980s, and becoming a source of food and refuge in both the DDR and PRL—we, the Kujonki, want to share the spirit of these small plots of land with you. Let’s enjoy a warm summer Sunday together. ❀
Kujonki (Maja Zagórska, Joanna Chwiłkowska) is a curatorial and production duo on a mission to make queer feminist perspectives from Eastern Europe impossible to ignore.
WORKSHOPS
Noise and Nonsense by Ella Zwietnig (ENG/DE)
A music workshop for children aged 0–6, hosted by Ella Zwietnig / Klangspielraum.
In this fun and interactive session, we’ll explore the many ways of creating sound and music. Children will use their voices, bodies, tubes, and everyday materials to listen, experiment with rhythm, and have fun making noise together.
Group 1: 0–2 years
Group 2: 3–6 years
Digital DJing for Kids by Tash Todd (ENG/DE)
This one-hour introductory workshop invites young participants (ages 7+) to explore the basics of digital DJing using the Pioneer DDJ-1000 controller.
We will cover tempo (BPM), beatmatching, EQ, and how to build smooth transitions between tracks.
The session is designed for all skill levels—no prior DJ experience is needed. Children will get hands-on experience with the equipment, experiment freely, and collaborate to create a fun and continuous musical journey.
