Whether you’re 2 or 102 years old, come and nurture your inner child in our musical Strebergarten.
Running barefoot through the grass, drawing on the ground with a stick, eating fresh fruit straight from the bus —this is what our childhood on the Działki (Schrebergarten) of our grandparents looked like. Now, as Kujonki (Maja and Joanna) we invite you to share new summer Strebergarten moments with us.
We’ve created a free-drawing space for both children and adults, where more is allowed than forbidden and floors and walls are waiting to become a living gallery.
We will start the day with free workshops for kids to explore sound, rhythm, and digital DJing. (sign up info below)
Musically the Strebergarten will be filled with the sounds of Dj Sets by Baklaxa and Border Diva, and a live concert by Andreya Casablanca.
To nurture the body we will have Polish summer food sold in the backyard, including blackberry vegan pierogi made by our own Babcia Kasia, homemade Slavic compotes by Kujonki, and mouthwatering desserts by Dana Hirschova.
Inspired by the rich history of Działki/Schrebergarten—where the first one in Germany were created as playgrounds for working-class kids in Leipzig in 1864, booming in Poland during the economic crisis of the 1980s, and becoming a source of food and refuge for people in both the DDR and PRL—we, the Kujonki, want to share the community spirit of these little plots of land with you. Let’s enjoy a warm summer Sunday together!
